Vision

Cyberpunk London: Enter the Cyberzone is an ambitious project to recreate a slice of life in a cyberpunk city for you to explore and engage with. With structured events and intricately designed links between the characters, you will be given a place where you can explore the story at your leisure and enjoy losing yourself in a highly immersive setting. Player agency is important as you are given the tools to steer your story in the direction of your choosing while having a meaningful impact on the story world.

This is a larp about corporate greed and oppression as well as themes of technology and obsession. Every effort to stay on top of the relentless advance of corporate control requires giving up something that the characters hold dear. The choice is ultimately to sacrifice freedom and dignity in exchange for security, or to risk losing everything maintaining independence and principles. Characters are emotionally invested in their fate and the lives of the people around them with a strong focus on interpersonal drama and difficult decisions.

Setting

Set fifty years in the future, this dystopian vision of London centers on the rise of the City Corporation, a powerful monopolistic megacorporation that has taken control of the government and the economy. Fraught with internal division between the Establishment Regalia Group and the Executive Branch the company is ruthless in its pursuit of money and power. 

The setting focuses on themes of high tech low life even among the executive classes, with cybernetic enhancement coming with a greater dependency on the system that the characters may be trying to oppose. Characters choose between failure and freedom, or success and obedience as they make a stand for what they believe in. Details outside of the city are kept deliberately vague so that the players can focus their stories on a rich shared narrative. 

In the Cyberzones you must make deals to survive. The question is what deals are you prepared to make and what are you prepared to sacrifice. Style over substance is a strong theme as characters focus on looking impressive to make up for the dark and oppressive landscape they live in. In the shadows of corporate rule, solidarity, friendship and trust are valued more than credit. While for those who choose to live in the corporate world, money and power are the only rules.

The Characters

The characters come from one of the six Cyber Zones, where they live their lives and attempt to survive the capitalist hellscape collapsing around them. Each of the zones has its own flavour and its own story, with characters focused on a drama relevant to their local area. The stories then overlap with each other, as the impact of the actions of people from one zone have radical implications on the characters in another zone. 

From Rock Stars to Vagrants, executives to punks, Cybeprunk London aims to provide a slice of life from the bottom to the top of the Cyberzones. This will allow your rags to riches character to literally enter a whole new world when they ascend the ladder at the cost of their soul, or for your character’s dramatic fall to go down right into the gutter. Within each zone are meaningful stories, situations and scenarios for you to engage with. 

What Will Happen At The Larp

At cyberpunk london you will dress in iconic cyberpunk fashion and explore the six cyberzones created around the venue. From the Street Bar to the Cyber Doc, Razor Alley to the Executive lounge, each of the zones are filled with characters and exciting opportunities to engage with the world. As you progress through your storylines you will find yourself getting deeper and deeper into a web of corporate corruption, greed and ruthless double dealing. Alternatively you can explore the human interest side of the city and get to know the residents and the struggles they face trying to live in the shadow of corporate rule. 

Themed drinks from the bar will be available throughout the event, as you make deals and negate with the regular clientele. At the nightclub the elite and the street meet in a throng of music and dancing as careful negotiations make or break people’s lives and careers. Executives run for office or rule from behind the scene as they pass secret agendas intended to increase their portfolio and take control of a slice of the city. Street characters find work and accomplices in the shadows of these schemes, in a desperate attempt to increase their reputation in the zone.
